I’ve lived near St Helens Duver on the Isle of Wight since December 2010. During that time I’ve developed the existing garden, adding a vegetable patch and a greenhouse, as well as a number of new flower beds.
During the same period I’ve enjoyed multiple dog walks around the Duver area and have been amazed and delighted by the variety of wild flowers growing there (see ‘Duver’ posts).
Having started this blog when I took voluntary redundancy at the end of 2013, after a year doing a day or two a week consulting, I’ve now returned to work four days a week (one based at home, but three in the City of London) which has had a seriously negative impact on the amount of time I spend in the garden – and blogging! However, I still love both gardening and blogging so hopefully I can continue to share my experiences with you.
And lastly, apologies if, now I’m back at work, I respond to your comments tardily or not at all, but I really do appreciate them, so please keep them coming!
Hi, I found your blog address while reading ‘The Patient Gardener’ blog. As you sounded like another newbie I decided to head over. What a nice surprise – you are blogging from the part of the country where I grew up. We lived in Havant but sometimes popped over to the Isle of Wight for day trips or holidays. How are you enjoying blogging – quite addictive isn’t it. A great way to learn more about gardening too. I loved the photo of your dog on the seashore.
Your dog has great ears!
I enjoyed several very happy holidays on the IoW when I was a child, I will enjoy following you and seeing how the area has changed.
Your pup is clearly a sweetheart!
Thanks Adrienne, indeed he is!
Golly, it is a long overdue tidy up of my desk that priduced a scrap of paper telling me to google your blog. It’s fabulous, as is your garden. I’ll have to tap into your expertise. Coffee?
I also live on the island, in Ryde. We moved over almost a year ago, so are just Newbies. I enjoy looking for other people’s blogs about the island, and I’m glad I’ve found yours! Now that I have a garden I’ve lots to learn, so,will look forward to your posts. I liked the photos of your garden flowers. I hoped they survived the latest snow…..
Hi Georgie Welcome to Duver Diary!
Sadly the snow did finish off a few tender plants, but suddenly there are so many bulbs appearing I’m not so concerned!
Nice to meet a fellow islander. I love your flower photos, especially the vase arrangements. You clearly have a great knowledge of plants. I’ve been in the garden today too, weeding!
